Compressor Station Upgrades

Due to changing gas flow rates and pressures, An Oklahoma City-based energy corporation needed to replace six existing compressors at two sites near Chanute, Kansas, to improve the efficiency of the systems.

SKW provided all of the mechanical, piping, electrical, structural and civil engineering services, including instrumentation and controls, survey, and drafting for the station improvements. Additionally, SKW produced hazardous area classification drawings as well as grounding drawings.

SKW designed a centralized liquids handling tank and recommended reuse of the existing amine plant and dehydration skid to save costs. SKW also designed a centralized liquids handling tank and re-piped two existing coolers and a dehydration skid.

SKW provided new piping layouts to improve operational efficiency. Additionally, the client received piping and instrumentation diagrams to inform them of the locations and types for all controls and processes. To maximize value, where possible, existing equipment was reused and relocated.

To prepare for future expansion and alterations, SKW’s engineers also led planning for a future amine plant and control building.
